Annual Veterans Day Luncheon

Nov 12, 2024

Members of the Keystone College community gathered for a Veterans Day luncheon on Tuesday in honor of the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes.

The event opened with remarks from Sergeant Amber Mascia, a current student and President of the Armed Forces Club. Keystone’s President, John F. Pullo, Sr. ’69, welcomed guests, and introduced the guest speaker, Ty Holmes ‘91, Keystone College alumnus and President of the Scranton School District Board of Directors.

Mr. Holmes had an extensive military career, beginning in 1991. He served for 25 years and received numerous decorations from both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. The decorated combat veteran has been deployed in such dangerous locations as Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Somalia, and Bosnia. He was also part of the rescue missions in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

He spoke about his experiences in two branches of the military, the significance of Veterans Day, and the deep gratitude we owe to those who have served.
